Presented by Health Stress Management (Pty) Ltd
Course presenter, developer: Dr Arien van der Merwe
This practical course provides delegates with relevant knowledge, values and attitudes concerning peer educator training (PET). There is a recognised need for a broader approach to health and wellness, than the previous emphasis on only HIV/Aids. The PET program will encourage an integrated approach to addressing all the chronic diseases of lifestyle. Delegates are equipped with the basic knowledge and practice to become peer educators in private companies, government departments, NGOs, schools, communities and service provider organisations.
|Day 1:||Definitions & models of wellness, peer educator training, and a long term vision for wellness|
|Day 2:||Basic anatomy & physiology. Stress management, nutrition, fitness and wellness. Thoughts & emotions. The chronic diseases of lifestyle (CDL’s).|
|Day 3:||The wellness approach. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart attack, stroke. Immune system health. Diabetes mellitus.|
|Day 4:||Practical and/or written examination to qualify for a certificate issued and endorsed by Health Stress Management (Pty) Ltd.|
